The Poet Pratip Sen Gupta has been writing poetry for several years. A prolific writer, he writes in three languages, English, Hindi and Urdu, but he mainly writes in English. Pratip has a vast repertoire of genres, but his romantic poems are the most acclaimed. With his unique style which he has developed over the years, Pratip paints vivid, sometime surreal word pictures and his poems create an instant bonding between the poem and the reader. His use of metaphors are very unique too and give unexpected dimensions to the poetry and create a very personal atmosphere for the reader.
Pratip believes that once a poet has written a poem, it no longer belongs to him, but to every reader who would relate to the poem in his own personal way. There is no one way to interpret or relate to a poem. Poetry is a very fluid art and poems cannot be explained but experienced. Immersive poetry works best in the Romantic genre. Romance in his poetry transcends culture, race, age, gender and pretty much everything else. After all everyone loves a good love poem. Although there may be some religious references in certain poems these poems are not religious in anyway. Spirituality, Divinity etc. all are in the context of romantic love not religious sentiment. Here is a selection of 101 Romantic poems, chosen from a very large collection of his poetry.
Pratip is a member of allpoetry.com where about 1600 of his poems are published. He has a large following on that site and below are some comments on his poems by other poets. Stunning. I knew from the picture and format I was going to like this. Outdone so much by your skill and appropriate scientific neurology I might just hang this on my wall as the torch bearer of emotional non-sentimental oozing verse.
I sometimes wonder who it is you are writing to. It's always so very eloquently said and marvellously romantic and soulful. Intimate whispers. This one is beautiful, my dear. I've now read it quite a number of times in silence and pray your muse does not keep you away too long.
Mesmerizing poem, feels like quite original, lots of uncommon words, subtle psychology amplifying its mystique; enjoyed reading and re-reading it.
So many so not know these days to whom or where they are belonging. Your plea is hitting hearts and you speak soulfully, thank you Pratip for sharing!
Wow, how tender, and with such amazing imagery; sigh sigh sigh I think you have won my heart...
Oh my goodness, I wish I had your talent for writing as wonderfully as you do. The way you see and say things, well, it's incredible.
You always leave me spell bound with a wizardry of words!! Simply beautiful.
This poem is so amazingly beautiful and I just loved reading every single word of it! In fact, I read it twice and will bookmark it for further reading! It has what makes a poem so grand in imagery, presentation and poetical skill! BRAVO!
Your imagery is abundant and always does a masterful job of putting the reader right there in the scene. A darkly vibrant poetic write, my friend
Your imagery is abundant and always does a masterful job of putting the reader right there in the scene. A darkly vibrant poetic write, my friend, and repeating the beginning stanza at the end again is perfect.
Beautiful. There is so much to this that I love that it is hard to pick a few examples. 'Callipers of ice' and 'kinetic cats' and the sense of longing and waiting. I like the mood of it.
