Meluha Ke Mritunjay (Hindi) is the Hindi translation of the first novel of the Shiva trilogy and is a mythological fantasy. The book takes the reader along with Lord Shiva on his journey of introspection on who he desired to be and how it led to dire consequences. Summary Of The Book Meluha Ke Mritunjay (Hindi) is a gripping fantasy tale that narrates the legend of Shiva against the backdrop of many myths and the popular Hindu belief of Karma. The books takes the reader on a magical journey, that along the way talks about the origins of the Brahmins, the many Avatars of Vishnu and the properties of Somras, a drink believed to grant immortality to its drinker. The year is 1900 BC and on the land of Meluha what modern Indians mistakenly know as the Indus Valley Civilisation, is a utopian empire created hundreds of years ago by the greatest of the kings that ever ruled the face of earth, Lord Ram. The proud empire and its rulers, the Suryavanshis, are facing a looming crisis as their primary river, Saraswati, is slowly ebbing away. Added to their woes are the terrorist attacks from the Chandravanshis, their neighbours from the east who have teamed up with the Nagas, an ostracised race of humans with superior martial skills. As dark clouds hover above the once proud empire, the only glimmer of hope that the citizens cling onto is an ancient legend that proclaims the emergence of a hero when everything seems to be in a state of despair. Soon, a Tibetan immigrant Shiva, along with his loyal followers, sets foot in Meluha. Is he their hero, their saviour? Pushed into circumstances that he had never dreamed of and at the same time burdened with a sense of duty and love, will Shiva march the Suryavanshis on a path to victory and destroy evil forever? Meluha Ke Mritunjay (Hindi) ruled the bestseller list of leading magazines like The Times Of India, The Economic Times, The Statesman, and Rolling Stone India just a week after it was first published in February 2010. The Hindi translation of the popular Indian bestseller 'Immortals of Meluha’, 'Meluha Ke Mritunjay’ is set in 1900 BC, during the time of Indus Valley Civilization and revolves around the lives of the men who inhabited the land of Meluha back then—the 'Suryavanshi’.

The first part of the Shiva Trilogy, this book is about the legend of Lord Shiva and the Hindu concept of Karma. The story starts with the Suryavanshis being petrified of an impending disaster—their only source of water, River Saraswati, running dry. In addition to this, their neighbours Chandravanshis are also preparing an attack with the help of Nagas. The sole hope that sustains them is that of an age-old legend that promises their safety with the help of an unknown warrior.

Is Shiva the warrior they had been waiting for since ages? Will he able to save him? Published in 2011, the novel provides an intriguing answer to all these and many more.
